Biographical Information

Paul Svagdis was a football and baseball player in college. He was named the Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year for Tufts as a senior in 1993. He also played in the Cape Cod League in the 1991 & 1992 summers. He was assistant coach at Tufts from 1994-1996 while getting his Master's degree in education. He then became head coach at Pomona-Pitzer College (1997-2002), while also serving as an assistant football coach. He helped the team to a school-best record 36-7 finish in 2002 and named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.

Svagdis then became head coach at Azusa Pacific University (2003-2021). He took the team to the 2007 NAIA College World Series, their first NAIA College World Series in 23 years. He repeated the feat in 2008. He stayed at Azusa through 2021, then returned to his alma mater, Tufts University in 2022. In 2023 he won the New England Small College Athletic Conference. After three seasons Svagdis again moved cross country, this time as head coach at Westmont College for 2025.
