Biographical Information[edit]

Orlando Ximello pitched for the Potros de Tijuana of the Mexican League in 2008. In 21 games, he posted a record of 1-3 with a 3.61 earned run average. For 2009, Ximello pitched for the Olmecas de Tabasco where he saw action in just one inning and gave up three earned runs.

Ximello was the second-to-last active player in Organized Baseball with a last name starting with the letter "X". He is just the sixth professional player in history to have a last name starting with "X". The others were Alfred Xavier (1930), Leovigildo Xiques (1945), Ramon Xiques (1951-1952), Charles Xiques (1954), Joseph Xavier (1985-1990), and after him, Gui Yuan Xu (2016-2018). None of them made it to what was considered the Majors at the time, but Leovigildo Xiques played in the Negro American League, which was retroactively recognized as a Major League in 2020.
