Biographical Information[edit]

Noriyuki Mori played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Mori was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the 5th round of the 1984 NPB draft, and he spent his first five seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only got 15 at-bats combined for the top team. Mori was used as an infield utility man in 1990, and he played 67 games with a .243/.307/.340 batting line. He only got 32 at-bats in 1991, and he shared the starting shortstop spot with Tetsuro Hirose after Yukio Tanaka was injured in 1992. Mori recorded a .302/.360/.385 batting line, and he would've ranked 3th in the Pacific League in batting had he qualified (between Kelvin Torve and Norio Tanabe). However, he slumped to .109/.128/.239 in 1993, and Hirose took the starting spot. Mori hit .259/.308/.376 in 51 games in 1994, but he was 4-for-36 in 1995 and he announced his retirement. He later scouted for the Fighters.

Overall, Mori hit .238/.295/.330 with 124 hits and 8 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
