Biographical Information[edit]
Submariner Nobuyoshi Watanabe played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.
Watanabe signed with the Hiroshima Carp in 1951, but he only pitched one game in his first season. He went 6-14 with a 3.62 ERA in 1952, and he tied Shigeru Sugishita for 9th in losses in the Central League. Watanabe slumped to 4-6 with a 5.46 ERA in 1953, and he struggled again in 1954 as his ERA was 6.11 in 17 games. He pitched 8 games with a 6.50 ERA in 1955, and he announced his retirement. He later worked in the Hiroshima Prefectural Government.
Overall, Watanabe was 11-23 with a 4.54 ERA, struck out 79 and pitched 344 2/3 innings in 5 seasons in NPB.
