Biographical Information[edit]
Noboru Tsunemi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years. His brother Shigeru Tsunemi also pitched in NPB.
Tsunemi hit .260 with a batting title in college, and he signed with the Tokyu Flyers in 1949. He crushed 17 homers with a .264/.319/.426 batting line in 1950, and he was 8th in homers in the Pacific League (between Katsuki Tokura and Takeshi Doigaki). Tsunemi then hit .282/.332/.433 with 11 homers in 1951, and he was 9th in homers (between Shigeyoshi Morishita and Tokura) and 2nd in triples (tied with Yukichi Nagatoshi and Kaoru Betto). He recorded a .293/.353/.387 batting line in 1952, and he hit .265/.335/.343 with 24 doubles in 1953. He tied Bunjiro Sakamoto for 6th in doubles that season. Tsunemi then collected 22 doubles with a .245/.316/.311 batting line in 1954, and he slumped to .215/.423/.429 in 1955. The Flyers then released him, and he signed with the Hankyu Braves. However, Tsunemi struggled again in 1956 as he hit .218/.297/.293, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Tsunemi hit .257/.318/.361 with 742 hits and 43 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
