Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Noah Skirrow was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as an undrafted free agent on June 16, 2020, after not being taken in the 2020 amateur draft, which had been shortened to just five rounds by the Coronavirus pandemic. He had played three seasons at Liberty University, the last of these being cut short by the pandemic after just 4 games. At Liberty, just before the 2020 season was suspended, he was the starting pitcher in a combined no-hitter against Marist College on February 29th, the first for his school since 2000.
He made his professional debut in 2021 with the FCL Phillies and also pitched for two other teams that first season - the Jersey Shore BlueClaws and the Reading Fightin Phils, reaching AA in just a few months. His combined totals were 1-5, 4.34 in 18 games, with 60 strikeouts in 58 innings. In 2022, he continued his very quick rise through the system starting off at Reading and finishing the year in AAA with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs of the International League. He was 5-9, 4.36 in 25 games - all starts - with 133 strikeouts in 119 2/3 innings.
Heading into 2023, he was named to the Canadian national team for the 2023 World Baseball Classic. He spent that season with Lehigh Valley, going 8-4, 5.84 in 24 games (14 starts) and pitching 101 2/3 innings. He went down one level in 2024, spending the year in AA with Reading. He was 6-5, 4.66 in 25 games, including 7 starts.
On March 21, 2025, the Phillies handed Noah his unconditional release. He could not find another major league team interested in signing him, so he joined the Lancaster Stormers of the independent Atlantic League. He had a great season there, finishing at 15-3, 3.99 while logging 137 2/3 innings in 24 starts and striking out 143 batters. In early 2026, he was named to Canada's roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
