Biographical Information[edit]
Neftali Velasco has been on the Salvadoran national team.
He debuted for El Salvador in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games; he was the third member of his family named Mario Velasco to play for them that year as Mario Andrés Velasco and Mario Santiago Velasco had both played for them in the Central American Qualifier. [1] He debuted against Curaçao, relieving Héctor Martínez in the 6th with two outs and a 11-4 deficit, with two aboard. A passed ball let in a run and he hit Jamal Zalm but retired Alexander Rodriguez to end the inning. He got Dudley Leonora and Ericson Leonora to open the 7th then Rafael Mena took over. He was his country's top hurler that game. His other outing did not go as well. Again replacing Martínez, this time it was in the second inning against Cuba, down 4-0, with one on and two out. He threw a wild pitch to make it 5-0 then Erisbel Arruebarruena doubled, Yasniel González walked and Guillermo Avilés walked. A Yurisbel Gracial single put it at 7-0. Marcelo Parker succeeded him and let both inherited runners score. [2]
