Biographical Information[edit]
Cather Moisés Ballesteros was signed by the Chicago Cubs as an international amateur free agent from Venezuela on January 15, 2021.
He made his major league debut with the Cubs on May 13, 2025, starting at designated hitter and going 0 for 4 in a 5-4 win over the Miami Marlins at Wrigley Field. He collected his first career hit in his second game, on May 16th against the Chicago White Sox. However, before he could do that, he managed to somehow lose his shoe while driving in his first career run in the 2nd inning of the game. He got twisted in defending himself against an inside pitch from Shane Smith, and the shoe came off as he ran to first base with just one shoe on, making it safely as the White Sox attempted a play on Michael Busch who was coming home, but failed to retire him. Moisés then changed to another pair of cleats before his next at-bat, and his first hit was a clean single to center-right.
