Biographical Information[edit]

Misao Takaura signed with the Taiyo Whales in 1979, and he only got 3 at-bats combined in his first season. He was 4-for-28 in 1981, and he played 91 games with a .172/.227/.212 batting line in 1982. Since Taiyo already had star catcher Yasuhiko Tsuji, Takaura didn't get many chances. He hit .247/.333/.376 in 47 games in 1983, and he was 3-for-14 in 1984. He failed to return to the big club in 1985, and he announced his retirement. Takaura later became the minor league battery coach for the Whales from 1986 to 1989 and from 1992 to 1992, and he coached their top team in 19900. He then scouted for them, and he was the minor league battery coach for the Rakuten Golden Eagles from 2010 to 2011 and for the Yokohama BayStars from 2012 to 2014. He was also an assistant coach for Josai International University from 2015 to 2019, and the Nihon Wellness Sports University named him their new assistant coach in 2020.
