Biographical Information[edit]

Minoru Yojo played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.

Yojo was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the 4th round of the 1988 NPB draft, and he hit .209/.285/.247 in 64 games for the Visalia Oaks in 1989. He was 6-for-22 in 1990, and he went 2-for-22 in 1991 before he tore his left ACL in July. Yojo returned in 1992 with a .310/.386/.395 batting line, then he had a 15-for-53 record in 1993. He stayed in the minors for the entire 1994 season, then the Giants traded him to the Orix BlueWave for Akiyoshi Sasaki. Yojo was 0-for-9 in 1995, and he played a career-high 108 games (getting 176 PA) with a .261/.331/.312 batting line in 1996. He was 0-for-3 in the 1996 Japan Series but was on the field (having been a defensive sub for 1B Doug Jennings) when Orix won their first Japan Series title. However, he only got 16 at-bats combined in the next two seasons, and the BlueWave released him in 1998. The Yokohama BayStars picked him up, but Yojo failed to return to the top team in 1999 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Yojo hit .255/.323/.324 with 104 hits and 2 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
