Biographical Information

Minoru Yamagishi pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years

Yamagishi was 32-21 with a 1.97 ERA and a MVP in the Tohto University Baseball League, and he was the first pitcher in Aoyama Gakuin's history to get 30 wins. He also represented Japan in the 2004 World University Baseball Championship. Yamagishi was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 4th round the 2004 NPB draft, and he went 1-1 with a 2.83 ERA in 2005. He notched 7 holds with a 3.20 ERA in 31 appearances in 2006, then he was 3-3 with a 2.73 ERA in 2007. However, Yamagishi only pitched 4 games in each of the next two seasons, and he was traded to the Yakult Swallows for Tomohito Yoneno. Yamagishi still didn't get many chances with the new team, and he had a 9.82 ERA in 4 games in 2010. He announced his retirement in 2011.

Overall, Yamagishi was 6-4 with 9 holds and a 4.06 ERA, struck out 110 and pitched 128 2/3 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
