Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Minoru Shibahara played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 13 years.
Shimada was drafted by the Hankyu Braves in the 4th round of the 1982 NPB draft, and he spent his first three seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only got 24 at-bats combined for the top team. He played 80 games with a .173/.225/.267 batting line in 1986; in the minors, he set the Western League record by hitting a triple in three consecutive at-bats. Shibahara only got 83 at-bats combined for the big club in the next five seasons, and he finally got some chances when Yasuo Fujii was injured in 1992 (by which point the team was the Orix BlueWave). He played 104 games with a .254/.315/.385 batting line, and he hit .308/.377/.397 in 1993. Shibahara played 64 games with a .265/.331/.346 batting line in 1994, and he had a 10-for-35 record in 1995. He went 3-for-12 in 1996, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Shibahara hit .252/.315/.356 with 193 hits and 10 homers in 13 seasons in NPB.
