Biographical Information[edit]
Mikio Oikawa was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 6th round of the 1981 NPB draft, and he was 0-for-11 in 10 games in 1983. He only played 4 games in 1984, and he won the home run title of the Western League in 1985. However, he didn't reach the big club in 1985 and 1986, then the Carp sent him to the Nippon Ham Fighters for cash. Oikawa hit .267/.333/.400 in 72 games (30 at-bats) in 1987, and he was 3-for-10 in 1988 then he announced his retirement. Often a pinch-runner, he had more career runs (20) than hits (11).
