Biographical Information[edit]

The Cleveland Indians signed Miguel García as an international amateur free agent in 1991. An outfielder he played in their minor league system through 1994, when he appeared in 33 games between the Burlington Indians and Watertown Indians, hitting .191.

García joined the Kansas City Royals organization in 2001 as a hitting and outfield coach for the DSL Royals. He stayed in this position through 2003. From 2004-2007 he is not mentioned in public sources, though he appears to have remained in the Royals organization in some capacity. The Royals promoted him to the major league staff in 2008 as a batting practice pitcher. García retained this role through the 2021 season. One news account listed him as a coach for the DSL Royals in 2013, but it is not clear how this can be reconciled with his batting practice responsibilities that year. In 2022 the Royals promoted García to a major league coaching position where he remained through the 2024 season.

García also has some international coaching experience. He was assigned to the Dominican Republic national team with unspecified duties for each of the 2006, 2009, 2013, and 2017 World Baseball Classics. García also coached in the Dominican League with the Águilas Cibaeñas in 2013/2014 and 2014/2015. During the 2018/2019 season he switched to the Gigantes del Cibao team. He started the year as the team's hitting coach, but was moved to assistant hitting coach on November 22nd as part of a staff shake-up.
