Biographical Information[edit]
Michio Fujii played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.
Fujii signed with the Hankyu Braves in 1950, and he hit .234/.298/.319 with 15 steals in his first season. He collected 23 steals with a .260/.316/.355 batting line in 1951, and he tied Seizo Furukawa for 5th in steals in the Pacific League. Fujii improved to .259/.344/.342 with 54 steals in 1952, and he was 2nd in steals (1 behind Chusuke Kizuka), 10th in runs (between Sunao Imakurusu and Hiroshi Oshita) and 10th in triples (5 behind Kaoru Betto and Kazuo Kageyama). He hit .280/.322/.360 with 16 steals in 1953, and he collected 36 steals with a .261/.343/.326 batting line in 1954. Fujii was 8th in steals in '54 (between Kizuka and Betto) and 10th in runs (between Bunjiro Sakamoto and Kageyama). He hit .279/.358/.343 in 1955, and he played 144 games with a .265/.345/.309 batting line in 1956. Fujii slumped to .140/.204/.160 in 1957, and he announced his retirement
Overall, Fujii hit .261/.333/.332 with 730 hits, 187 steals and 16 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
