Michael Johnson was born in South Africa and moved to Great Britain at age 12. He came to the US as a high school exchange student, starring in baseball. He remained in America for college. He has been on the preliminary rosters of the South African national team (2009 World Baseball Classic) and British national team (2009 Baseball World Cup but his first major tournament will be the 2010 European Championship with Britain.
