Biographical Information[edit]

Maud Werkman was on the Dutch women's national team.

Debuting for the Netherlands at age 17, she made two appearances in the 2016 Women's Baseball World Cup. Starting the tourney opener against India, she retired Rani Rai and Bharati Kuiro Gaonkar but Mona Kusumakar reached on an error then she walked Vandana Dhaka and allowed a single to Amanjot Kaur Bains. She walked Geeta Bhuyan to force in a run but retired Mello Sheral to escape further harm. She walked three more over the next two innings, allowing one hit and one run, while striking out two (Priyanka Chouhan and Sheral). Anouk Vergunst relieved with a 6-2 lead and got credit for the win. In her other outing, she allowed a hit, three walks and three runs (all earned) in 2 2/3 IP in a start against Cuba; Marijke van Veen took over and the decision again went to Vergunst, this time a loss. [1]

Back with them for the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup, she went 1 2/3 scoreless in relief against South Korea but lost to Puerto Rico's Angelis Rivera and Cuba's Maraisy Pérez. She had some pretty skewed numbers as she allowed 16 runs in 8 innings but only three were earned. Only Ching-Wen Hu and Marlenny Quero lost more games in the event while only Loes Asmus had more K for the Netherlands than Werkman's six. She tied Dianelis Porro for 4th in the event in runs allowed but only Asmus had a better ERA for the Orange. [2]
