Biographical Information[edit]
Masaya Kyoyama has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Kyoyama was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars in the 4th round of the 2016 NPB draft; the scout was Mikinori Hachiuma. He spent his first season in the NPB Farm Leagues, and he debuted on April 1, 2018. He got his first win against the Yakult Swallows, and he was the first teenager in the history of the BayStars to get a win in the opening series. Kyoyama started his career with three straight wins, and he set the team record for most consecutive wins since debuting (while getting decisions in every game). Kyoyama ended up 6-6 with a 5.64 ERA in his rookie year, and he won one vote in the CL Rookie of the Year voting.
The Shiga native struggled again as he went 0-6 with a 5.80 ERA in 2019, then he recorded a 4.66 ERA in 6 games in 2020. He was 2-7 with a 4.97 ERA in 2021, and he improved to 2-2 with a 3.23 ERA in 2022. However, Kyoyama suffered from Yips, and he missed the entire 2023 season. He returned as a reliever in 2024, and he got 5 holds with a 2.01 ERA in 23 appearances.
