Biographical Information[edit]
Masatoshi Mifune played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 3 years.
Mifune signed with the Osaka Tigers in 1952, and he named their opening day starter as a rookie. He was the first Hanshin rookie to start the opening game in the two-league era. Mifune went 7-3 with a 4.34 ERA in his rookie year, then he had a 6-4 record with a 3.00 ERA in 1953. However, he only pitched 10 games with a 3.50 ERA in 1954, and he was traded to the Toei Flyers for cash. Mifune failed to return to the top team in 1955, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Mifune was 14-8 with a 3.58 ERA, struck out 62 and pitched 210 2/3 innings in 3 seasons in NPB.
