Biographical Information

Masato Kumashiro played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.

Kumashiro was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 6th round of the 2010 NPB draft,and he played 81 games with a .250/.315/.266 batting line in his rookie year. He recorded a .270/.298/.287 batting line in 109 games as Seibu's main 4th outfielder in 2012, then he hit .239/.286/.261 in 104 games in 2013. Kumashiro slumped to .217/.328/.270 in 2014, and he was 4-for-36 in 2015. He never had more than 15 at-bats a year again before he announced his retirement in 2022, and he was the minor league fielding coach for the Lions from 2023 to 2024. The Lions named him their new top team outfield fielding coach in 2025.

Overall, Kumashiro hit .225/.290/.251 with 108 hits in 11 seasons in NPB.
