Biographical Information[edit]

Masato Hanada pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Hanada was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the 5th round of the 1999 NPB draft, and he only pitched 9 games combined in his first two seasons. He recorded a 3.93 ERA in 22 appearances in 2002, then he went 3-1 with a 3.54 ERA in 2003. Hanada allowed 11 runs in 7 2/3 innings in 2004, and he bounced back with a 3.81 ERA in 40 games in 2005. He pitched a career-high 51 games with 14 holds and a 3.33 ERA in 2006, and he was 2-2 with a 4.80 ERA in 2007. Hanada then recorded a 4.38 ERA in 23 appearances in 2008, but his ERA was 7.71 in 3 games in 2009 and he announced his retirement. He was an assistant coach for Chuo University in 2017.

Overall, Hanada was 10-7 with a 4.18 ERA and 21 holds, struck out 225 and pitched 286 2/3 innings in 10 seasons in NPB.
