Biographical Information

Masato Furuno was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the 6th round of the 2011 NPB draft, and he missed his first season due to right shoulder injury. He was 1-2 with a 4.65 ERA in 2013, then he went 3-4 with a 5.35 ERA in 2014. Furuno had a 4-3 record with a 4.78 ERA in 27 appearances in 2015, but he suffered from shoulder injuries again, and he allowed 14 runs in 13 1/3 innings in 2016. He only pitched 2 more games before he announced his retirement in 2018.

Overall, Furuno was 9-12 with a 5.30 ERA, struck out 122 and pitched 192 innings in 5 seasons in NPB.
