Biographical Information[edit]
Masashi Doi was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 2nd round of the 1976 NPB draft, and he had a 4.38 ERA in 37 appearances in 1977. He pitched 17 games with a 5.23 ERA in 1978, but he only got 3 appearances combined in the next three seasons. The Carp then traded him to the Lotte Orions for cash, and he recorded a 2.40 ERA in 15 relief outings in 1982. His ERA rose to 5.28 in 20 games in 1983, and he only pitched one inning in 1984 before the Orions traded him to the Yomiuri Giants for cash in the middle of the season. Doi didn't pitch any games for Yomiuri, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Doi went 4-6 with a 4.95 ERA, struck out 91 and pitched 151 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
