Biographical Information[edit]
Masaru Ogata signed with the Kokutetsu Swallows in 1962, and he had a 1.32 ERA in 22 appearances in 1964. He pitched 39 games with a 4.29 ERA in 1965, and his ERA was 5.23 in 17 games in 1966. Ogata improved to a 2.57 ERA in 17 relief outings in 1967, and he went 1-4 with a 3.39 ERA in 1968. He recorded a 2.95 ERA in 34 appearances in 1969, and he pitched 21 games with a 3.60 ERA in 1970. Ogata only got 2 appearances in 1971, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Ogata was 1-7 with a 3.39 ERA, struck out 132 and pitched 321 innings in 8 seasons in NPB.
