Biographical Information

Makoto Ito was drafted by the Lotte Orions in the 6th round of the 1984 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first season. He had a 2.97 ERA in 52 appearances in 1986, and he was 2nd in games in the Pacific League (12 behind Yoshiaki Ishimoto). Ito went 1-4 with a 3.86 ERA in 1987, and he slumped to 0-2 with a 8.05 ERA in 1988. He only pitched 3 games in 1989, and his ERA was 5.27 in 11 games in 1990. Ito didn't reach the big club in 1991, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Ito was 3-9 with a 4.82 ERA, struck out 110 and pitched 170 innings in 5 seasons in NPB.
