Biographical Information[edit]
Masao Sunouchi was drafted by the Sankei Atoms in the 2nd round of the 1967 NPB draft, and he had a 3.00 ERA in 6 games in 1968. He went 0-2 with a 7.29 ERA in 1969, and he pitched 38 games with a 2-2 record and a 4.14 ERA in 1970. Sunouchi improved to 5-2 with a 2.59 ERA in 31 relief outings in 1971, but he then struggled in 1972 as his ERA was 6.12 in 11 games. He went 0-2 with a 4.82 ERA in 1974, and his ERA was 4.50 in 19 appearances in 1975. Sunouchi didn't reach the big club in 1976, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Sunouchi was 9-9 with a 4.19 ERA, struck out 181 and pitched 262 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
