Biographical Information[edit]
Masao Chihara played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.
Chihara signed with the Shochiku Robins in 1950, but he only played 2 games for them then he jumped to the Kokutetsu Swallows. He hit .238/.296/.301 with 3 triples for them in the rest of the season, and he recorded a .256/.288/.294 batting line in 90 games in 1951. Chihara slumped to .209/.254/.209 in 1952, and he struggled again in 1953 as his batting line was .185/.221/.221. He went 12-for-58 in 1954, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Chihara hit .224/.266/.265 with 242 hits and 4 homers in 5 seasons in NPB.
