Biographical Information[edit]
Masanori Iritani played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.
Iritani was 32-21 in his college career, and he signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 1952. He had a 1.88 ERA in 10 games in his first season, and he went 11-7 with a 2.53 ERA in 1953. Iritani completed a shutout in the 1953 Nippon Series Game 5 to get the win over Susumu Yuki, and the Giants beat the Nankai Hawks in 7 games. He was 7-6 with a 2.35 ERA in 1954, and his ERA was 2.15 in 16 games in 1955. However, Iritani only pitched 7 games with a 3.00 ERA in 1956, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Iritani was 23-13 with a 2.33 ERA, struck out 151 and pitched 401 1/3 innings in 5 years in NPB.
