Masamitsu Hirano played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years
Hirano was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the first round of the 2007 NPB draft after they lost the lotteries for the rights to Kohei Hasebe and Yasutaka Hattori. He was 1-2 with a 8.28 ERA in 2008, then he notched a save with a 5.49 ERA in 5 games in 2009. Hirano went 4-4 with a 4.39 ERA in 2010, and he had a 4.50 ERA in 23 appearances in 2011. He started 3 games with a 3.12 ERA in 2012, but he allowed 8 runs in 8 innings in 2013. Hirano never pitched another game for the big club before he announced his retirement in 2015.
Overall, Hirano was 6-13 with a 5.13 ERA, struck out 115 and pitched 196 2/3 innings in 6 seasons in the NPB.
