Biographical Information

Masami Takahashi was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the 2nd round of the 1979 NPB draft, and he only pitched one game in 1980. He was 4-4 with a 4.56 ERA in 1981, but he only got 6 appearances in the next two seasons. Takahashi had a 2-5 record with a 4.62 ERA in 1984, then he allowed 3 runs in 3 1/3 innings in 1985. The Fighters then traded him with Isamu Kida to the Taiyo Whales for Toru Ohata and Tsugio Kanazawa, but he didn't reach the top team in 1986 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Takahashi was 7-11 with a 4.54 ERA, struck out 54 and pitched 170 1/3 innings in 6 seasons in NPB.
