Biographical Information

Masakatsu Shirai signed with the Taiyo Whales in 1984, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in 1985. He won the ERA title of the Eastern League in 1986, and he also pitched 2 games for the big club. Shirai had a 0.73 ERA in 10 games in 1987, but he failed to return to the big club before he announced his retirement in 1990.
