Biographical Information[edit]
Masaharu Fujimoto signed with the Hankyu Braves after he went undrafted in the 1971 NPB draft, and he only played 9 games combined with the big club in his first 7 seasons. He was 8-for-24 in 1981, and he only got 2 more at-bats before he announced his retirement in 1983. Fujimoto later became an umpire for the Pacific League from 1987 to 2008. Fujimoto worked 4 All-Star Games (1993, 1995, 2003, 2008) and one Nippon Series (1999). His brother Noriyuki Fujimoto was also an umpire in NPB.
