Biographical Information[edit]
Masaaki Ishida played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.
Ishida signed with the Kokutetsu Swallows in 1954, and he went 1-for-1 in his first season. He then hit .244/.273/.290 in 1955, and he played 77 games with a .246/.272/.382 batting line in 1956. Ishida lost his starting first baseman spot in 1957 when Tokuji Iida joined the team, and he recorded a .225/.283/.279 batting line in 88 games. He got some chances when Iida was injured in 1958, and he hit .245/.286/.299 with 10 doubles in 106 games. Ishida went 11-for-40 as Iida's backup in 1959, and he only got 16 more at-bats for the top team before he announced his retirement in 1961.
Overall, Ishida hit .244/.280/.307 with 260 hits and 7 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
