Biographical Information[edit]

Mario Mora was a long-time star shortstop in El Salvador. He played for the Salvadoran national team in the 1972 Amateur World Series. In the 1974 Central American and Caribbean Games, he hit .324/.343/.324 with 3 runs and 3 RBI in 9 games, fielding .857 at SS and also in RF. He led the team in hits (11) and average, was one run behind team leader Eduardo Mitchel and 2nd in RBI, two behind Héctor Arita. While his fielding marks appear low, he was third among the event's five qualifiers at short, behind Pedro Avila and Rodolfo Puente and ahead of Fidel Mejía and Alcides Curet.
