Biographical Information[edit]
Marije Filius played for the Dutch women's national team.
She debuted in the 2014 Women's Baseball World Cup, pinch-hitting for Paulieke Breukers and drawing a walk from Canada's Cindy Saavedra. She was used regularly in right field in their other five games, getting her first hit off Team USA's Marti Sementelli. She finished 4-for-15 with two walks, a double, a run and two RBI while handling six putouts. She tied Sofie van de Wiel for the team lead in hits and total bases. [1] In the 2016 Women's Baseball World Cup, her hit off Miyu Shimizu of champion Japan kept her team from being no-hit. She was at .313/.522/.375 for the event, with 7 walks in 8 games. She tied Astrid Rodríguez for 4th in the Cup in walks and led her team in OBP, .022 ahead of Sascha Egas. [2] Filius was only 2-for-15 with a walk and two runs in the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup, though. [3]
