Biographical Information[edit]

Marc Civit has pitched in the Dominican Republic, Italy, the US and San Marino and has been on the Spanish national team.

He was signed by Toronto Blue Jays scout Henry Sandoval in 2018. [1] His father Xavier Civit had been the first minor leaguer born and raised in Spain, having been signed by the Montreal Expos in 1993, making the Civits almost definitely the first Spanish father-son duo to sign with MLB organizations. [2] He was 2-1 with a save ad a 3.13 ERA for the 2019 DSL Blue Jays. He pitched 5 2/3 shutout innings in the 2019 U-18 Baseball World Cup and beat Panama's José Ojo. [3]

When the minor leagues shut down in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Civit pitched briefly for Bologna in Italy, allowing 3 runs in 4 walks (1 H, 3 BB, 6 K). With the 2021 FCL Blue Jays, he was 3-1 but with a 8.64 ERA and 2.10 WHIP. On August 23, he joined with teammates Yaifer Perdomo, Kelvin Perez, Stephan Vargas and Brayan Mejia on a no-hitter of the FCL Tigers West. [4] He improved to 2-2, 5.50 with a save in 2022, striking out 24 in 18 innings, to end his time in the Jays chain. In 2023, he split time between two Italian clubs, Crocetta and Bologna, going a combined 3-2 with two saves and a 3.67 ERA, whiffing 40 in 34 1/3 IP.

Civit was 2-2 with a save and a 1.62 ERA for Bologna in 2024. He allowed 3 runs in 4 innings for Spain in the 2024 Haarlem Baseball Week. [5] Moving to ASD San Marino in 2025, he was 1-2 with a 11.25 ERA in the regular season. He came up big in the 2025 Italian Series, though. He was 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA, beating Parma's Gabriele Angioi in Game 2 and again in Game 4, the clincher (with a combined 3 shutout innings; both times he was the beneficiary of big rallies, when his team was down 7-3 and 6-2 entering the 9th). He led the Series in wins. [6] Following that postseason success, he joined Peter Bonilla and Jorge Balboa as one of three actual Spaniards on the Spanish national team, once again dominated by Cubans, with more Venezuelans and Dominicans than Spanish players. He did not get into any action, whereas Balboa and Bonilla both pitched twice. [7]
