Biographical Information[edit]
Mamoru Nakajima played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.
Nakajima signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 1950, but he spent his first five seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only got 26 at-bats combined for the top team. The Giants released him in 1954, and he signed with the Taiyo Whales in 1956. Nakajima played 104 games with a .214/.256/.295 batting line that season, and he collected 7 triples with a .228/.254/.308 batting line in 1957. He was 2nd in triples in the Central League, tied with Wally Yonamine and Tokuji Iida. Nakajima hit .213/.253/.253 in 1958, and he got 4 triples with a .244/.293/.317 batting line in 1959. He was placed in the minors for the entire 1960 season, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Nakajima hit .223/.260/.292 with 263 hits and 6 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
