Biographical Information

Makoto Kuboyama signed with the Nishitetsu Lions in 1953, and he only got 11 at-bats combined in his first three seasons. He played 59 games with a .179/.216/.381 batting line in 1956 (he had 89 PA as their #3 backstop behind Takeshi Hibino and Yoshizo Tanabe), and he appeared in 3 games in the 1956 Nippon Series; the Lions beat the Yomiuri Giants in 6 games. Kuboyama played 34 games with a .214/.283/.381 batting line in 1957, and he was 2-for-10 in 1958. He only got 2 at-bats in 1959, and he went to the Hankyu Braves. Kuboyama only played one more game for the big club, and he announced his retirement in 1960.
