Infielder Luis Miguel Navas debuted for the Cuban national team in 2007.

Navas played for Cuba in the 1997 World Junior Championship and 1998 Junior Pan American Games. In the 1997-1998 Serie Nacional, he made his debut with Santiago de Cuba.

Navas hit .224/.333/.300 in 2000-2001, .317/.411/.411 in 2001-2002, .341/.468/.450 in 2002-2003, .299/.418/.363 in 2003-2004, .240/.394/.305 in 2004-2005 and .303/.423/.373 in 2005-2006. He was with Cuba for the 2006 World University Championship.

In the 2006-2007 Serie Nacional, Navas batted .296/.412/.350. He was on Cuba's roster in the 2007 Pan American Games but did not appear in a contest as they won Gold. In the 2007-2008 season, Navas hit .326/.446/.457 for the champion Santiago de Cuba club. He was 0 for 2 in the 2008 Haarlem Baseball Week and remained with Cuba for the 2008 Olympics, going 2 for 2 with a double, 2 runs and 2 RBI as a backup to Eduardo Paret.

In the 2009 World Baseball Classic, Navas split the shortstop role with Paret. He went 2 for 9 with a walk and 2 runs. In the 2008-2009 Serie Nacional, Navas batted .320/.427/.450.
