Biographical Information[edit]

Kuo-Cheng Hsieh was one of the early leaders of Taiwanese baseball. He was a reporter (not a sportswriter) for the Yomiuri Shimbun but his articles critical of Japanese warlords were not popular there and he was forced to resign. Returning to his native Taiwan, he was active in establishing what would become the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association. He also helped establish Little League baseball in Taiwan. He was elected as a legislator in 1969 and served until 1980. He is known as the Father of Taiwanese Baseball and the Father of Little League. He was posthumously elected to the Taiwan Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural class of 2014.
