Biographical Information

Kunio Shimoyashiro played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 4 years.

Shimoyashiro signed with the Hankyu Braves in 1943, and he hit .236/.389/.324 with 7 triples in his first season. He tied Naoto Asahara for 2nd in triples in the Japan Professional Baseball League, 1 behind Akira Noguchi. Shimoyashiro recorded a .263/.377/.372 batting line in 43 games in 1946, and he hit .253/.318/.311 with 5 triples in 1947. He went to the Kinsei Stars in 1948, but he slumped to .204/.267/.265 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Shimoyashiro hit .231/.324/.303 with 262 hits and 3 homers in 4 seasons in NPB.
