Biographical Information[edit]

Kuniaki Nakamura played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Nakamura signed with the Yakult Swallows in 1969, and he hit .155/.200/.197 in 76 games in his first season. He improved to .264/.312/.414 in 1971, and he had a .264/.347/.405 batting line in 1972. Nakamura got the starting second base spot in 1973 after Shiro Takegami was injured, and he hit .213/.264/.287 in 121 games. He then crushed a career-high 9 homers with a .237/.327/.395 batting line in 1974, and he recorded a .271/.323/.359 in 1975. Nakamura slumped to .220/.286/.315 in 1976 (by this point, he was backing up Yasunori Nagao), and he struggled again in 1977 as his batting line was .171/.227/.317 in 36 games. The Swallows then traded him to the Nippon Ham Fighters for Masaki Miura, and he batted .174/.246/.245 in 66 appearances in 1979. He went 1-for-9 in 1979, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Nakamura hit .228/.292/.333 with 368 hits and 30 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
