Kota Yazawa has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Yazawa represented Japan in the 2022 Haarlem Baseball Week, hitting .267/.389/.267 as their main DH and going 1-0 with a 2.10 ERA and 16 K in 10 IP, beating Italy's Maurizio Andretta. He led the event in whiffs. He was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the first round of the 2022 NPB draft; the scout was Kazunori Yamamoto. Yazawa hit .177/.245/.250 in 37 appearances in 2023, and he pitched 2 shutout innings that season. He then recorded a 4.05 ERA with 3 holds on the mound in 2024, and he went 2-for-18 at the plate.
Yazawa's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 94.4 mph, changeup and a slider.
