Biographical Information

Koji Obata was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 7th round of the 1991 NPB draft, and he only got 11 at-bats combined for the top team in his first five seasons. Obata was 2-for-12 in 1996, and he played 38 games with a 1-for-9 record in 1997. He only played 4 more games for the big club, and he announced his retirement in 2001. The backstop only had 38 plate appearances in his 76 games.
