Biographical Information[edit]

Koichi Harada played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Harada signed with the Hankyu Braves in 1950, and he went 1-3 with a 3.58 ERA in his first season. He was 2-3 with a 3.52 ERA in 1951, and he went 9-7 with a 3.21 ERA in 1952. Harada recorded a solid 1.87 ERA in 18 appearances in 1953, and he had his career year in 1954. He went 15-17 with a 3.01 ERA, and he was 5th in losses in the Pacific League (6 behind Takeshi Nomura). Harada had a 7-11 record with a 3.39 ERA in 1955, and he pitched 27 games with a 5-3 record and a 3.31 ERA in 1956. His ERA was 4.09 in 13 games in 1957, but he only pitched one game in 1958 and he announced his retirement. Harada later became an umpire for the Central League from 1961 to 1975, and he worked the 1970 NPB All-Star Game.

Overall, Harada was 43-44 with a 3.22 ERA, struck out 405 and pitched 842 2/3 innings in 9 seasons in NPB.
