Biographical Information[edit]
Koichi Akashi signed with the Hankyu Braves in 1947, and he only pitched one game in his first season. He was then turned into an infielder, and he was 2-for-22 in 1948. Akashi had a 6-for-21 record in 1949, and he hit .222/.268/.310 in 1950. He played 67 games with a .247/.289/.273 batting line in 1951, but he slumped to .125/.125/.125 in 1952 and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Akashi hit .223/.261/.275 with 86 hits in 6 seasons in NPB.
