Biographical Information

Kiyomi Shirano signed with the Nankai Hawks in 1958, and he only got 2 at-bats in 1959. He was 2-for-10 in 1960, and he had a 3-for-11 record in 1961. Shirano also led the Western League in homers and RBI in '61, and he went 1-for-18 in 1962. The Whales then traded him to the Kokutetsu Swallows for nothing, and he hit .263/.291/.421 in 46 games in 1963, serving as their #3 first baseman. Shirano failed to return to the big club in 1964, and he announced his retirement.
