Biographical Information

Kiyoji Akai signed with the Kokutetsu Swallows in 1965, and he only got 15 at-bats combined in his first three seasons. He played 75 games with a .209/.266/.261 batting line in 1968 (he was their #5 outfielder that year), and he struggled again in 1969 as his batting line was .206/.264/.216 in 115 plate appearances over 80 games then he announced his retirement.
