Biographical Information[edit]
Kihachiro Tanaka pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.
Tanaka signed with the Nishitetsu Lions in 1959, and he was 1-9 with a 3.35 ERA in 55 appearances in his first season. He ranked 5th in games in the Pacific League, tied with Atsushi Aramaki. Tanaka set the team record by having a 11-game losing streak (over multiple seasons) in 1960 (broken by Chihiro Sumida), and he went 3-5 with a 2.46 ERA that season. He was 2-4 with a 3.68 ERA in 1961, and he had a 6-11 record with a 3.60 ERA in 1962. However, Tanaka allowed 6 runs in 5 innings in 1963, and he announced his retirement
Overall, Tanaka was 12-29 with a 3.36 ERA, struck out 305 and pitched 427 1/3 innings in 5 seasons in NPB.
