Biographical Information[edit]
Kenta Kurose crushed 97 homers in his high school, and he set the Japanese high school home run record for a right-handed batter. He ranked 4th overall in homers as of 2025, behind three left-handed batters: Rintaro Sasaki, Kotaro Kiyomiya and Daiki Yamamoto. Kurose was drafted by the Softbank Hawks in the 5th round of the 2015 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first six seasons. He was 2-for-12 for the big club in 2022, and he announced his retirement. He didn't hit a single home run for the top team. He had gone deep 17 times in 458 AB in the minors, batting .194/.303/.393.
